Interviews are stressful, but most follow predictable patterns. Prepare strong answers to these ten questions and you will walk in confident.
1. Tell me about yourself
Give a 60โ90 second summary: who you are professionally, your key achievements, and why you are excited about this role. Keep it relevant โ this is not your life story.
2. Why do you want this job?
Show you researched the company. Connect their mission and the role’s challenges to your skills and career goals.
3. What are your strengths?
Pick two or three strengths backed by examples. “I am detail-oriented โ in my last role I reduced reporting errors by 40%.”
4. What is your biggest weakness?
Choose a real but manageable weakness and show how you are improving it. Never use a disguised strength.
5. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Show ambition aligned with the role’s growth path. Employers want to hire people who will stay and grow.
6. Why are you leaving your current job?
Stay positive. Focus on what you are moving towards, not what you are escaping from.
7. Describe a challenge you overcame
Use the STAR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Concrete stories are memorable.
8. How do you handle pressure?
Give an example of staying calm and organised under a deadline.
9. What are your salary expectations?
Research the market rate first, then give a realistic range. Deflecting with “What is the budgeted range?” is perfectly acceptable early on.
10. Do you have questions for us?
Always say yes. Ask about the team, success metrics and growth opportunities โ it shows genuine interest.
Practice out loud, record yourself, and refine. Good preparation turns interviews from interrogations into conversations.
